I've tried loads of these duplicate eliminators and few work properly. At first I thought this was going to be ok but its a pain because I have to specify all the paths to exclude (many). Like so many other Windows apps, the user interface is at first sight feature-rich but subsequently found to be ergonomically flawed.

I successfully dowloaded Duplicate Radar. I selected my 250 gig C drive and tried to run the program. Unfortunately it has now crashed three times prior to completion of analysis at +/- the 75 % point. I am running Vista ultimate and office 2007 enterprise. Since downloading, I have not been able to successfully run the progrem. Any suggestions why this is happening?

It worked fine until the end, when it was time to delete the selected files--then nothing happened. I run a Vista Home Premium, 64. The same had happened to me with another free program--does everything it is supposed to do except delete the duplicate (and triplicate, etc) files! Do you think it might be the Vista, or did I miss pushing some critical button? I cannot give an overall rating because it did not work for me. Sorry! Thanks for the opportunity to try your program.

File fort File Fort is a very interesting piece of freeware. Backing up CMOS values is hard to come by in freeware.

Unable to use I could not use FileFort as it created an error "backup file too large". I require a program that deals with larger files.

Possibly the best freeware ever written I have been pondering how to implement a backup system for a workgroup that DOESN'T have all user files stored on a server (which could easily have a backup script run). I was looking for a simple, cheap piece of software to backup selected folders on a client PC to a server machine on a scheduled basis. When I downloaded my copy, I found both UTF8 and Unicode options unavailable to me. So, I deleted everything about it (as far as I know). I would be interested in receiving something that I as a NON-programmer can use to convert databases in Visual FoxPro and Lotus and MS Works to UTF8. That certainly would be most welcome, if losslessness is certain.

Very compact, but I needed more power. A 4.5 GByte image was created as two FAT32 Files, 3.99 GB + 0.5 GB.The image application made a mistake, and they got zapped.An Undelete application found them and restored to different partitions.FAT32 threw a wobbly when it got to 3.98 GB.An NTFS partition accepted what Undelete gave it, which was 5 GB, including a 0.5 GB tail-end I did not want.FileSplitter was unable to split this 5 GB into the original two files plus a third residual junk file.Both FFSJ.exe and TheFilesplitter131 solved my problem, but so they should with 20 to 40 times as much code.Alan.
